this is a project made of porcelain. i used the bottom of a cylinder for the top, and used the technique for making a planter for the bottom. there is a dozen or so holes around the top. each of these holes are glazed lightly with a small amount of various colors of glazes. there are 5 small pools of glaze in the bottom of the project, each one is one of the colors i used on the holes. on the rest of the project there is clear glaze. the project is intended to hold a candle and cast shadows on the walls of the room it is lit in.

This is a vase. The vase is eight inches tall and 7 inches is diameter. It is glazed in an experimental glaze made by mixing together several glazes that were low. The experimental glaze came out to be a blue with a bit of a green tint. It is solid in some spots and thiner in others. The base begins to come together and then gets wider at the lip.

This is a negative space cylinder. The cylinder has six colums of cut out squares that move slightly to the left as they go down that creates a spiral effect. It is glazed mostly in clear with six colors in each of the colums of cut out squares. The six colors are black, red, blue, dark blue, green, and dark green. A technique I used to create this rocket was controlling how it dryer by covering it with cloth instead of letting it sit out. Another technique I used was actually using geometry to calculate how to space the colums and how many colums I could place. I had to use math because the project was too wet for me to measure by hand, so I had to measure the diameter of he Lip and then use geometry to determine the circumfrence.

This is a porcelain cylinder wheel alter project. With this reject I used negative space to make the project look more unique. It is glazed in clear to keep the glaze simple and not distract from the shape of the cylinder. It's about five inches tall and three inches in diameter.

This is a bowl glazed in satin black. it is 3 and a half inches tall. The glaze on the inside appears to run down and gets lighter towards the bottom. the glaze is a bit thinner on the outside of the bowl. The shape of the bowl itself is rather simple and slightly narrow.

This is a wheel alter bowl project. it is glazed in blue and clear glazes. the blue glaze covers a small part below the edge of the lip, and drips down into the inside of the bowl. the clear glaze covers the rest of the bowl. the lip of the bowl comes up sharply in 5 points. I named the bowl sharktooth because the 5 points and inclines are supposed to represent waves , giving the bowl and ocean theme, the points give the name sharktooth because they are sharp. the art element used primarily is contrast between the blue and the clear.

This is a tall cylinder. It is eight inches tall and glazed in dark blue and light blue. The dark blue and light blue contrast eachother and adds to the project. It starts out going straight up and then gets wider hallway towards up the project. The footing on this project managed to come out close to perfect. The glaze is thinner in some areas towards the bottom of the Project. The light blue glaze dropped down on the inside and some of it trails in the bottom and pools up with the dark blue glaze.

This is a cylinder glazed in chrome green. The cylinder is very thick and short. The cylinder does not contain any significant art elements and is very simple. The cylinder is about 4 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter. The simplicity of it allows the viewer to take in the entire piece very easily and can enjoy it quickly.

This is a small bowl that I made out of porcelain. I wanted to experiment with porcelain and see how it was different from regular clay. I found it much more difficult to pull up with porcelain than clay. The bowl is glazed in clear glaze to allow for the white of the porcelain to be seen. The bowl is about four inches in diameter. The art element I used in this is simplicity.

This is the first project I've made this semester of advanced ceramics. it has four stripes of blue on it and then black, light blue, and blue dotted on it randomly. over all of these glazes is a clear glaze. in the bottom of the bowl the glazes mixed together to create some random blots of color. There are ridges on the outside of the bowl towards that bottom where you would hold the bowl.
